HomeOff-Topic → Re: Installing a HP1022 on Mac OS X

Hi,

Having tried to print to a shared HP Laserjet 1022 in the office from my Intel MacBook for quite some time with no success, no matter what driver I installed, I decided to tackle the problem again from the beginning.

First download this driver:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software7/COL10919/lj-31696-2/LJ_1022_Series_OSX.dmg

1) Install the package, then open the Printer Setup Utility (Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities).
2) Click Add, then, whilst Default Browser is activated, and after MacOSX finishes searching for other printers, click More Printers.
3) GIve it a second or two, then make sure the drop downs are set to Windows Printing and "Workgroup" (our Workgroup is called imaginatively "Workgroup").
4) You'll see a list of computers on your workgroup. Your Mac must be in this list or you're going to run into problems outside of this quick tutorial.
5) Choose the machine which the printer is physically connected to. In our case, it is "NewMills09", then click Choose.
6) A new list will appear with all printers connected to this machine. In most cases there will be just one- the printer you wish to connect to, identified by it's share name. Ours is called "HPLaserJ".
7) On the Printer Model drop down, choose HP.
8) Now here's the crazy bit, in the list of printers, choose HP LaserJet 1015 - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.0.0. (Click Add)
9) Open up your desired document (I chose a delightful HMRC document!) and print the document. (Apple + P).
10) Run over to the printer where you will find your document emerging in beautiful laser greyscale.

Now, feel the warm presence of heavenly sunlight on your face. Shrug your shoulders and resume work. :-)

Hope that helps somebody!
