I'm interested in hearing what your ideal design job would be?

Mine would look something like:

Freelance web designer working for a fun group/business working from home or home-office. The ability to hand pick jobs from a list of available work. The jobs would be pre-quoted with most of the content leg work done. Work as much or as little as you like :)

Not a long term thing from me, but...

I'd love to be involved with the interface design for things like Facebook and some of Google's applications. Actually working for a few weeks with the Amazon or Yahoo designers would be very interesting. A lot of the bigger sites tend to make very small changes that yield interesting results.

You should apply to design interfaces for Virgin Media - the latest one for digital TV is absolute sh!te.

I know! Who's bloody idea was it for a dark grey on black interface... Very cleaver.

I also hoped they would update the interface totally, bringing something fresh, instead they just reskined the only Telewest one...

You mean apart from being [insert sexy broad's name here]'s pants? haha

I'd like to be:
- a Lotus test driver. A glorious time of driving the cars as hard as I can and sliding around corners.
- a designer, designing on a laptop on the beach in the Maldives. Doing what I do now but in a nicer location (one that isn't Reading).
- a rally driver. Driving Subarus or Mitsubishis
- a famous DJ. An already established DJ that's got their own radio show on a Radio1.
- a house husband with an allowance from my highly paid soon to be wife to allow me to ponce around in a Lotus Exige meeting my mates for lunch and beers whilst keeping the house tidy (pretty much what I do now but I work and don't yet own an Exige).
- a lottery winner. A life of spending cash on stuff I don't need and treating my mates to holidays whilst setting my family up for life.

Oh.. if we're allowed ideal "job" full stop...

Because I'd like to continue working but without the need to earn money, I'd love to work behind the scenes at somewhere like Google! I could do creative programming - solving interesting problems! I'd probably invest more time in my personal projects and also because I had tons of money I'd throw it in the direction of friend's businesses with the hope of making even more money but also turning them into millionaires too (or just enough to buy nice cars and houses!)

Once I become uber-successful I'd start using my money to develop third world areas; improving technology to help the citizens to rise and stop fighting one another.

With the masses of money I would then have, I would then take on entire governments, and crush them, and with the power, direct it back into the system itself to the people. I would keep this system running using the masses of money being generated and allow it to spread globally. There would be no need for war because we would all have what we needed in abundance. At this point, I would dissolve all assets, declare everybody free and inspire people to go off and search for new planets... *laugh*

Actually, I think it'd be a wee-bit more complicated than that!

I'd like to live comfortably with nothing to do except satisfy my whims. I'd like my family and friends to be comfortable and not want for too much. I'd want to give the rest away to people who can use the money to look after animals and the planet as a whole.
