Formica Limited, the market leader and only manufacturer of High Pressure Laminate in the UK, is pleased to announce the winners of the 2007-2008 Formica® Design Award, an exciting new competition for emerging designers. Set in the context of a sports stadium, the brief challenged entrants to design either an entrance hall, a public washroom area, a VIP suite, or a retail space. The overall winning design and three category winning designs are displayed online at the competition website, www.formicadesignaward.co.uk.

The overall winner is Jade Horwood of Silverstone, Northamptonshire. A student in interior design at De Montfort University.

The three category winners are:
Entrance hall, Mia Wildgust, De Montfort University
VIP Suite, Alessia Bucci, London Metropolitan University
Retail space, Alexander Hulse, De Montfort University.

Jade received £1,000, a laptop computer, and four tickets to 100% Design Exhibition, Earl’s Court. Each of the three category winners have received £500, a digital camera, and two tickets to 100% Design. Jade's winning design will be showcased at 100% Design, and a work shadowing programme for one of the category winners is being set up to offer valuable, real life experience of the whole specification process.
