HomeMain → Special Characters on Laptop

Hi,

Does anyone know how to add special characters on the laptop keyboard? For example copyright, and quote marks. I've done this for years on a regular computer and there is a 2nd number pad, but the laptop doesn't have one. And I'ved used the ALT key and a number to create each symbol. I'm now copying symbols or code, yet this is a handful for an article. Is there any shortcut on the laptop?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Adrianna,

As far as I know, ALT key is the only way to go for inserting special characters.

Also...you can use the CHARACTER MAP.
Start Menu>>Programs » Accessories » System Tools » Character Map

Typically, a window should open which displays a series of characters in a grid. Just copy and paste.

The CharMap will give you many more ASCI characters than are available.

Hope that helps

The only way seems to be copying and pasting. I've tried the ALT tag several times, but on the laptop it doesn't work for creating special characters. I normally use ALT + NUMBER to create special characters but on regular pc with a bigger keyboard. Kind of weird that the laptop company's hadn't come up with a better solution for this. Especially since laptops are so "in" and so many people typing on it.

Thanks.
