HomeDevelopers → What do you do for design proposals

I'm making up a web design proposal for a site re-design. I've been using a word document for a proposal so far...but I haven't had a lot of luck with it.

I'd like to hear what people have been using. Software? Templates?

Good question man...
Id like to do something similar in Oz...
What programs are you using?

dan
I use indesign/PDF.
indesign looks interesting. It looks like its designed around print layouts. How do you find it for doing web layouts?

Travis,

Are you talking about a visual design presentation, or conceptual/estimate type?

For visual design we typically start with PDFs that consist of Photoshop layouts put together in InDesign (or Quark or whatever), with notes typed in.

However, for larger presentations, to say...a board of directors...we step it up and put together a presentation using Apple's Keynote (alternative to PowerPoint), which just oozes sexiness. We always get big complements on those presentations.

For concept and estimate proposals we typical default to MS Word and/or MS Excel, as our clients are very familiar with those tools.

MS Excel is particularly good for estimates because they always require numeric changes, and you can easily set that up to auto-update totals and things

Thanks Brandon.

I was talking about a basic price quote and it looks like a word or excel doc are still the best choices.

Your other info was very helpful as well. As a stand-alone freelancer I can't see having to put together a big presentation...but if I ever do I'll make sure it oozes sexiness! :)

Word is simple and easy to edit. And most clients can open the file.
