I'd like to find a easy way to add a simple site search functionality to a site (kinda like this site). I don't like the way Google site search looks. I'd rather be able to have it pull up the search info right in the site with minimal fuss.

Hi Travis,

I wrote the site search for this site- it simply interrogates the forum database for the search terms. It doesn't have weighting or proximity matching or even Levenshtein but it does allow simple searching.

If your site isn't dynamic then it will need to be indexed first; there are some online search solutions that provide this (or you could download and install a site search script from somewhere like www.hotscripts.com).

If you're on a .NET server, I've always wanted to try SiteSearchASP.NET, because it's very affordable (can't vouch for it, but have wanted to try it):
