HomeDevelopers → CMS integration from a PSD

Hi guys,

I'm getting tired of always getting the build stage of a project and never taking my designs through to an actual build. So, I'm thinking about paying someone to build (valid XHTML/CSS) my website for me and integrate it into a CMS whether that be Wordpress (because I'm running a blog on it) or Drupal or whatever, I'm open to suggestions. My knowledge of programming languages is beyond limited. If I was to provide the PSDs for each of the key pages how much would it cost/you suggest it should cost to get the service I'm after?

Thanks in advance,

Mark.
I guess it sort of depends on how big a web site you're talking about, but if it's a typical blog/portfolio site, and pricing according to a friends and family structure, I would quote about $300 CAD or roughly £150.

However, if I lived closer my quote would be '1 roaring night at the pub'. :)

...will work for beer!

Once again it comes down to how complicated the integration was. But come on Mark, you know you can do it; save the money and then take me and Travis out for a belly full of ale, a quick boogie at the local disco and a greasy kebab!

That's the best suggestion yet. I vote for the three man tag-team...powered by beer and kebabs.

You really need to choose the cms first although setting up a some CMSs can be more difficult that learning html.
In general these days you can just find a template you like and swap your images over. Most CMS solutions will have lots of users who will do this for you or you can get tools like www.csswizard.net that will help without needing to code.
Hi Mark,

I was convinced that you knew CSS, built a tableless site. I assume I'm confusing you for someone else on the forum.

If you can provide more details in terms of how many pages, and what type of content to each/what is needed for updating... than it may make it easier to give an estimate. The price will depend on how complex your site is, how many pages, functions/features... if it is just a blog that shouldn't be hard to setup. But once again this is a bit vague to give a ballpark price.

I know building a site to valid-standards isn't as simple, however CSS has a learning curve, with the use of WP you can use a template and go from there. Buy a book to help you, and I'm sure you can get something up and running. Then you can check in on the forum with your example, and I'm sure someone can give some tips on code improvement. This is possibly the more economical route. If you prefer not learning CSS, than if you can describe in more detail your site's structure, you may find the person for the job on this forum.

I have learnt CSS, more each day. I like it alot, and at first was a bit intimidated with getting into more code. But as a designer it seems like you have no choice but to learn more to do more. I built "The Art of Interpretation" http://interpretation.scene360.com

Richard is good at CSS.

Yes, I do know CSS, I was just being lazy in my old age. In the end I built the site as the Mrs. told me I couldn't afford to get someone else to do it because our new mortgage is far too high (living in the highest priced area for houses outside of central London is a nightmare).

Cheers for all your thoughts and replies.
